Why isn’t my monitor working?
One of the most common support calls we get is "why isn’t my monitor working"? This is almost always a computer issue rather than a teleprompter monitor problem, the issue being the computer not being set to export the signal, or not being able to send the video due to the computer display settings. We ship two kinds of monitors, composite and VGA, so determine which one you have to begin troubleshooting. ProLine models are VGA & Composite, Flex models are VGA only, except the Flex-11 which also has composite.
VGA LCD Troubleshooting for ProLine-11
- There is a function key that enables video out of the VGA port. This key will have a monitor icon on it. The key varies from make to make but can be F8 or F4. Press this key while you press the “Fn” key located at the lower left of your keyboard.
- These are the same keys you would use to enable a projector. You may have to do this a couple of times to cycle from the laptop screen to the external screen to both screens active.. You can also enable this port by going into “properties”.
- This monitor has built in image reversal and you do not set these up in dual screel mode and accepts either 800x600 or 1024x768 resolution.
VGA LCD Troubleshooting for VGA 15 , 17 and 19" monitors
- • Exit your prompting application.
- • Next, you need to left click on your desktop (Windows) and select “properties”.
- • Then select “settings” which takes you to the monitor settings.
- • Click on the box with the "1" in it and set #1 monitor to 800x600. Set the color quality to 16 bit. Click apply.
- • Click on the box with "2" in it and set the #2 monitor to 800x600, 16 bits. Both monitors must match exactly.
- • On the "2" monitor also check the box "extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor".
- • Click apply.
- • Now, re-open FlipQ and check "secondary display settings" and select "mirrored."
- • The primary should be on "normal."
- • Every computer is different, and these are just general instructions. Please check the manual for your laptop
and/or contact the manufacturer.
- • Faster computers can run at 1024x768, 16 bit or higher.
